March Event Poll!
March is nearly upon us, and with that comes new arrivals as well as a new event! I do have some ideas of my own, but I wanted to see what our wonderful player base has to say about it.
If you have any suggestions, please, please, PLEASE drop them in the comment below! I would also love to see what people have in mind themselves aside from the usual fare.
Any of these can be used at a later date, too, including the ones suggested.
There will also be a sign up for a thing regarding the intro log when apps open in two days, so be on the look out for that!

ACTUAL SUGGESTIONS
- species swap? non-humans become human, humans become any manner of thing they want? Maybe restricted to what species have been brought into the game? idk MAY INVOLVE POWERS TOO
- Speak Your Mind - internal monologues become externalized somehow? Posted anonymously to the network? People matching the right thought to the right person breaks the effect?
- Magic Sucks - y'all are too reliant on healing magic, or magic in general. for this event, all magic powers cause detrimental effects. magical characters? get ready for a bad time. technologically savvy or those with more mundane skills get to shine.
- Synesthesia - maybe the energy generator produces magical feedback that briefly scrambles the senses. Taste the rainbow, kids!

I'm color-blind, kid.

Right off the top: I like all these suggestions.
SPECIES SWAP: what it would be like for someone else to become Shooter? 8D (It's only species, not mind, so it'd be like. BRS's Checkerboard Fightin' World, being a component of it: understanding their limited values and world structure.)
but holy heck there's an idea too, MIND-SWAP. Or maybe more like ISSUES-SWAP? The whole "look at each other's innermost secrets" thing taken to the next level - Character A's issues are suddenly embedded in Character B, complete with full knowledge and every last feeling. Exactly as if Character B had carried the stuff all along.
(That'd be fun for whoever got my pups right off the bat. Ikuri and how broken her world left her; the fears that still simmer below the surface, that haven't been a part of the equation since Bastion. (Ripe material for the Queen to get ahold of.) Rin Kagamine and the tortures she endured in her native world, thanks to the empowered evil side of a certain someone. Saul Livingston and...well. Issues from his backstory, Issues from the last game he was in...both tied to being that Someone in question. The fear and broken trust and anger he'd aroused in certain individuals by having that demon. Knowing, just like Ikuri, that even though the Inner Monster has been quiet here, it's far from dead and far from gone; it can come out anytime.
Kinda like Frisk and their inner Chara, ya know?
BUT BACK TO THE SUGGESTIONS. Species Swap. For me and mine it'd be reminiscent of
Saul is essentially human, despite the 'added' the nature, so personality-wise that wouldn't be too much different - but if someone had the fortune of swapping species with him, what if we combined that with Magic Sucks and suddenly have a non-warper type be granted constantly-misfiring powers?
"Doesn't feel good, does it? Other people's shit malfunctioning around you." (I Robot)

Issues Swap is an interesting idea but I personally wouldn't enjoy depositing a truckload of very complicated (and potentially triggering) baggage on another player and leaving the playing of it open to their interpretation, or wading through a pretty significant amount of research into other canons, characters, backgrounds etc. in order to play it accurately. I feel like that would probably steal a lot of the 'fun' out of it. I mean, it's really intriguing but 'here play my character's existential angst' doesn't sound nearly as straight-forward and fun as 'you woke up in so-and-so's body'.

(I may be the one who suggested it, but envisioning myself with the challenge of putting it IC - yeah, it'd have to be with characters I'm confident I understood well, and possibly also with those muns I've shared enough time and company to feel sufficiently sure I could make stuff go down in a manner they'd be okay with. It's tricky business.)

Personally it seems like a great musebox idea as opposed to a game event idea?

(XD I seem to have a knack for that, incidentally; comin' up with stuff that's better for boxes than games. Pretty natural thing, all considered - probably will be until I gain my sea-legs.)Funny you should say that, though; not long after I was starting to think the same thing. It does seem like the sorta plot that's best with particularly close partners.
Haven't thought out this next angle thoroughly, but it was somethin' that occurred to me whilst gettin' ready to run out for work. I was starting to wonder about the core concepts, and if they'd be more tenable if toned down. What came to mind...was how the Force worked in the Bantam run of Star Wars books, combined possibly with the spirit-bond (or whatever actual term was used; it's in one of my books, I'd have to dig it out) option for characters in earlier D&D. Like...instead of outright inheriting Issues as such - maybe a sort of temporary bond between two characters on a metaphysical level. (Also makes me think of another take on the get-along sweater.)
Like this: two characters are suddenly bonded. They're aware of each other's emotional state and general condition: whether they're hurt, sad, angry, in danger, in pain, etc. Perhaps even a whiff of general location within the castle, especially if danger's a thing. Thoughts and deeper emotional nuances can technically be discerned, but only through consent: never through coercion. Mayhap include a caveat that hostile act towards one end of the bond terminates it, or else imposes a consequence on the person taking the action.
It would still require player coordination and consent, but perhaps it would also be less unwieldy, as it would encourage in-character communication without imposing the challenge of getting someone else's muse right.

Maybe make it even more inclusive: based on proximity to others the bond shifts to other characters or includes a group (hive mind, anyone?) including an option for psychological side effects like identity bleed. That way no one is left out in the cold.
Sans would be so uncooperative in such a plot so maybe circumstances that make the bond irresistible save for cases of OOC consent would allow for difficult characters to participate?
no subject
And how would the hive mind / identity bleed subroutes work? (They're self-suggestive, in a way, but I'd be interested in hearing what you think.
With that said, I really like all of it. That entire comment and everything in it, I like those ideas. 8D

If you have characters in a group, they gain a group telepathic link. Maybe the longer it goes on, the lines between where you stop and other consciousnesses begin get blurry. Things like that.
Re: ACTUAL SUGGESTIONS
ALSO ALSO MINOR ADDENDUM?
ANOTHER EVENT IDEA
If they have powers that would prove game breaking, they're automatically sealed?
